Professor Dr. Rahim B. Talukdar has long years of academic and administrative experience for over four decades. He was the Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, Dhaka from May 2006 to July 2010. He was also the Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (2003-2006) and Vice Chancellor- in-charge of Viqarunnissa University (2001-2003). He was Professor and Director of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka. Professor Talukdar had been at the Institute of Business Administration since its inception in 1966. He is one of the very senior Professors of the Institute. Professor Talukdar did his B.Com. (Hons.) and M.Com from University of Dhaka, MBA from Indiana University, USA, and Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA. He was also an Adjunct Professor of the University of North Carolina, USA. In addition to teaching, Dr. Talukdar has been involved in research, consulting as well as administrative activities. His research and consulting interests are in the areas of management, economics and finance both for profit and not-for-profit organizations. He has worked in projects sponsored by the government, non-government organizations, local corporate bodies, multinationals, chambers and trade bodies, international organizations, donor agencies, etc. These include the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, UNDP, UNFPA, APO, USAID, DFID, GTZ, CIDA and others. As the Director of the Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka, Dr. Talukdar was responsible for the efficient running of the Institute. He was also the Chairman, Centre for Population Management and Research at the Institute when management development issues in not-for-profit sector, particularly in health and population were addressed under his direct participation and leadership.
