Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) of BRAC University is running a Business Incubation Centre (BIC) where groups of talented and dedicated student entrepreneurs work to make their entrepreneurial success. Entrepreneurship is the sum of different processes and activities through which an entrepreneur ensures to reach a quality product or services to the customers. BIC works intensively with the incubatee teams so that they can work efficiently and successfully in every steps of their entrepreneurial journey.
Currently, twelve incubatee teams are working at Business Incubation Centre (BIC) of Brac University. Till now, six teams have received seed fund amounting BDT. 33,00,000; among them two teams got fund from BRAC USA. Other four teams are under process of receiving fund soon. BIC also provides co-working space, meeting room facility, utilities, mentoring support, entrepreneurial skill development opportunity etc facilities for the incubatees. At BIC, all the teams work in a friendly and cooperative environment with enormous learning opportunities. BIC seeks to provide an environment conducive to the development of entrepreneurship.
Business Plan Competition (BPC) is the pathway for the students and alumni of Brac University to enroll in BIC. BPC also helps to encourage entrepreneurship among the aspiring students for developing their potentials through a package of entrepreneurship development program throughout the journey. This program will help the participants/teams to learn how they can execute their business ideas.
The participating teams of BPC have to go through the following processes:
– Online Registration
– Participate in the TRIUMPH Program
– Develop Business Plan
– Submission of Business Plan
– Selected Participants/Teams will pitch before the Jury Panel for final selection
– Enrollment to the Business Incubation Centre (BIC) of Brac University
The winning teams will receive a maximum of BDT 5,00,000 each as seed fund (interest free loan) for three (3) years with one year grace period along with other incubation facilities for implementing their business plan and getting their ideas off the ground. In exchange of obtaining the seed funds, each team has to enter into a formal agreement with CED. Each team would run their business under close observation and supervision of CED-BracU at BIC which would look after and provide necessary guidance and assistance to the teams for developing their ventures.
