Established by Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED)
CED completed a sub-project titled “Establishing a Business Incubation Centre for Graduate Students” undertaken by the Ministry of Education, Government of Bangladesh under the “Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project” (HEQEP), implemented by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC), and funded by the World Bank. The duration of the sub-project was from July 2014 to June 2016. The project allowed CED to expand its operations significantly and branch out to areas like social entrepreneurship and the paradigm of micro-entrepreneurs.
With the support from this sub-project, CED established an academia/university-based Business Incubation Centre (BIC), first-ever in Bangladesh, starting with BRAC University’s graduate students/alumni for providing them with essential business incubation supports as well as inspiring them to become successful entrepreneurs. Through this edifying capacity building program of international standard, CED hopes to provide professional business incubation services towards fresh graduate students, new business ventures and startups, and to operate successfully the BIC along with promoting nationwide entrepreneurship development.
The BIC of BRAC University started its operations since June 2016. Currently, 14 groups of incubatees are enrolled to the BIC and various incubation support/services are being provided to them for developing their ventures.
