Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED), Brac University, as a part of its 5-year mapping project Mapped in Bangladesh (MiB), organized an auspicious event titled “Pitha Utshob” for the diligent workers and rights-based organizations (RBOs) of the ready-made garment (RMG) industry of Bangladesh. The event was held on 4 March 2022 Friday during 10 AM – 12 PM in Dhaka at Brac University Auditorium.
Representatives from different RBOs namely Awaj Foundation, Bangladesh Center for Workers Solidarity (BCWS), OSH Academy, and Textile Garments Workers’ Federation attended the program. Over 80 workers from different RMG factories also participated in the event.
Various project videos produced by Mapped in Bangladesh were shown to the workers to understand the MiB project and how they can use the digital map.
The Pitha Utshob functioned as a refreshment event for all the participants where RMG factory workers presented their creative performance in singing, dancing, acting, etc. on the stage of BracU Auditorium. Participants from RBOs motivated the workers to carry on with their extra-curricular activities for which the workers generally have a very limited time in their lives.
The participants were delighted and enjoyed the event served with different types of pithas.
