CED-Brac University’s ground-breaking project “Mapped in Bangladesh” (MiB) has been in operations for the last 5 years where Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) is one of the strategic partners.
BracU and BGMEA signed an MoU in 2016 for collaboration on MiB which has been extended recently on 25 October 2021 up to the year 2026. The signing ceremony took place at the BGMEA office in Dhaka.
The Extension of MoU was signed by Mr Miran Ali (Vice President, BGMEA) and Professor Dr Rahim B Talukdar (Adviser – CED & Team Leader – MiB, BRACU) on behalf of their respective organizations.
Mr Faruque Hassan (President, BGMEA), Professor Vincent Chang, PhD (Vice-Chancellor, BracU), Ms Naureen Chowdhury (Senior Programme Manager – Labor Rights, Laudes Foundation), and Ms Afshana Choudhury (Joint Director – CED, Lead Operations Officer – MiB, BracU) were also present, among others.
With the aim to enable transparency and accountability of the export-oriented RMG industry of Bangladesh, MiB is being funded by Laudes Foundation and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, with Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) as the other strategic partner.
With the support of all project partners, BracU hopes that the digital factory mapping of all the export-oriented RMG factories in the country would help all relevant stakeholders of the industry for their evidence-based decision making.
