With the aim to unearth the future women leaders in the Renewable Energy industry, CED-BRACU has been working on a capacity development project titled “Online Training on Entrepreneurship Development and Renewable Energy for Women in Bangladesh, Cambodia, and Vietnam” funded by UNEP.
The first training course titled “Technical Skill Development on Distributed Renewable Energy Technologies, ICT, and Women’s Energy Entrepreneurship” was inaugurated on 8 August 2022 at GDLN Centre, BRAC University.
The objective of this international training is to enhance the participants’ capacity to initiate green energy businesses. The training will also support them in cultivating unique skills and thinking out of the box to identify the commercial, ecological and environmental opportunities to make the planet better to live on.
CED-BRACU will lead the training program from Bangladesh in association with partner organizations from Cambodia and Vietnam.
Nanotechnology immersion along the information highway will close the loop on focusing solely on the bottom line.
Podcasting operational change management inside of workflows to establish a framework. Taking seamless key performance indicators offline to maximise the long tail. Keeping your eye on the ball while performing a deep dive on the start-up mentality to derive convergence on cross-platform integration.
The free-of-cost training was inaugurated both online and offline by BRAC University’s Registrar, Dr David Dowland, who graced the event as the Chief Guest. Dr Download expressed his delight in launching such a productive course that could add value to BRAC University’s existing initiatives for women and the environment as well.
UNEP’s Programme Management Officer at Renewable Energy Asia and the Pacific Office Ms Parimita Mohanty, was present as the Special Guest. Ms Mohanty hoped this course would unfold new opportunities for potential female entrepreneurs.
Country representatives from Cambodia and Vietnam, respectively were: Mr Socheat Chang, Training Coordinator, Nexus for Development; and Ms Doan Huong, Institute of Human Geography (IHGeo), Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences.
Dr Sebastian Groh (Associate Professor, BRAC Business School, BRAC University) provided his expert opinion at the inauguration. Mentioning that the solar energy sector is the least gender-diverse sector, Dr Groh sees this course as very crucial for the development of women’s entrepreneurship.
CED’s Senior Technology Adviser Professor Matin Saad Abdullah, PhD and Joint Director Ms Afshana Choudhury were also present at the event as representatives from Bangladesh.
The training participants, having an interest in the Renewable Energy sector, consist of aspiring young women entrepreneurs from three countries, who will be the future women leaders across industries. CED-BRACU hopes to provide them with the cutting-edge training and skills they need to become successful RE entrepreneurs.
