The Business Incubation Centre (BIC) of BRAC University (BRACU) offers young and budding entrepreneurs the opportunity and platform to devise, nurture, develop, and elevate their business ideas in an academia-based innovative and supportive work-environment through a range of incubation facilities and services.
BIC works as the startup incubator and is an integral part of BRACU in Bangladesh. BIC aims to meet the needs of new business ventures by the university’s students and alumni, as well as new startups and existing entrepreneurs in local communities. BIC offers a wide range of business development services for moving forward with their business ideas and ventures.
Established and being managed by the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) of BRACU, BIC was set up through a sub-project titled “Establishing a Business Incubation Centre for Graduate Students” under the Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) undertaken by the Ministry of Education of the Government of Bangladesh, and implemented by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC), with the assistance of the World Bank.
BIC started its operations in 2016, and this is the first-ever university-based business incubation centre established in Bangladesh. Currently, BIC is working only with the BRACU students/alumni with the plan of including community startups in future.
BIC follows the following set of systematic phases as its business incubation process:
Currently, 21 groups of incubatees are enrolled to the BIC and various incubation support and services are being provided to them for developing their ventures.
