CED, as the in-country partner from Bangladesh, has been organizing an entrepreneur exchange program titled “Professional Fellow” in the United States since 2013 in partnership with the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Oklahoma. This esteemed Professional Fellows Program, funded by the US Department of State, includes professional fellowship placements at American small business organizations. The program operates with various themes centered around “Economic Empowerment” and typically takes place between May and October. It targets mid-level emerging leaders from Bangladesh who are engaged in small or startup business ventures, business administration, government, NGOs, business education, incubation hubs, community training programs, or social entrepreneurship. These leaders are integrated into small businesses in Oklahoma and gain experience through association with one of America’s leading universities. Additionally, the program provides U.S.-based small business stakeholders an invaluable opportunity to collaborate with participants from Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and other countries through a two-week outbound exchange to these respective nations. Since its inception in 2011, CED has successfully facilitated the exchange of 105 Bangladeshi entrepreneurs as part of this program.
