“Support to Safety Retrofits and Environmental Upgrades in the Bangladeshi Ready-Made Garment Sector” (SSREU) project

CED worked as the in-country cooperating/implementing partner of adelphi Consult GmbH (Lead) and INTEGRATION Umwelt & Energie GmbH (implementing partner), in connection with the GIZ-supported project titled “Support to Safety Retrofits and Environmental Upgrades in the Bangladeshi Ready-Made Garment Sector (SSREU). The GIZ technical cooperation project, SSREU aims to address a number of capacity gaps in the private and financial sectors. Its objective is to support an enabling situation where the financial institutions and RMG factories actively use the developed information and capacity-building support structures in the areas of safety remediation and environmental and social upgrades.

The project was commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) with the Ministry of Finance, Financial Institutions Division, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh as the lead executing agency, and Bangladesh Bank as the implementing agency. The project region is in Dhaka, Bangladesh, with the duration of 2018-2020.
