The Roles of Information and Search Frictions in DeterminingWorking Conditions in Bangladesh’s Apparel Sector
Funded by G2LM, PI: Rachel M Heath (Associate Professor, University of Washington), CoPI: Laura Boudreau (Assistant Professor, Columbia University)
Followed by a successful pilot, this experimental study explores the impact of information and search frictions in the Bangladesh labor market on inefficient matching between workers and firms, and how these frictions interact with gender, using a randomized controlled trial with garment sector workers.
As part of the project, CED has surveyed around 2500 RMG factories in Bangladesh where the factory database of Mapped in Bangladesh was used.
