The rapid survey titled “Impacts of Coronavirus on Non-member RMG factories in Bangladesh” examines the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on non-member Ready-Made Garment (RMG) factories in Bangladesh. Non-member factories are those that are not affiliated with the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) or the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA). This study was conducted in collaboration with BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health (JPGSPH) at BRAC University, with the sample factories being selected from the MiB database.
The research aimed to assess the pandemic’s impact on various aspects of these factories, including the status of orders, financial debts, and operational conditions. It also focused on whether the factories were able to pay their workers, if any layoffs occurred, and the measures the factories implemented to support their employees. Additionally, the survey explored the actions taken to reduce the risk of Covid-19 infection among workers.
